It's been a while since we've talked about the Bosch SmartHome solution on the blog. However, the solution is still very much alive and well, and is even evolving rapidly, as we saw at IFA in Berlin, where the manufacturer presented new peripherals, a new home automation box, and upcoming compatibility with the universal Matter protocol!
The peripherals and the home automation box are being updated
At IFA, we saw many peripherals labeled “II,” clearly announcing a second version. It must be said that the first peripherals, as well as the home automation box, are starting to be a few years old.

The program included:
- the new home automation controller, which is the center of the system. It's through this controller that all Bosch SmartHome devices, as well as partner devices using ZigBee, communicate. As with the first version, it records all data locally to avoid any security risks and allow the system to operate even in the event of an internet outage. Compatible with voice assistants (Google, Amazon, and Apple), it allows you to control your home by voice, but also to create scenarios to automate your home. It is already available for €100.

- The new Eyes II outdoor camera, available in white or anthracite. This camera, which also serves as an outdoor light, is capable of specifically recognizing people in specific areas thanks to intelligent video analysis and 3D motion detection with integrated radar sensors, providing 180° surveillance. At the slightest detection of people, it can send a notification, illuminate itself as a deterrent if necessary with up to 1100 lumens, and activate the integrated siren. Of course, its HD stream is available via the app, day and night, in color thanks to the integrated lighting.

- The newEyes II indoor camera

- . Like the first version, this camera can be retracted to protect your privacy: its lens is enclosed within the housing, making it impossible to film you without your knowledge. However, the feature that allowed the camera to automatically rotate in the direction where motion was detected has disappeared: instead, we now have a fixed lens, but with a very wide angle that allows it to cover the entire room. Again, HD video is available in the app, day and night. a

- aRoom Thermostat II
- It guarantees a temperature tailored to your needs, summer and winter. Not only does it serve as a remote sensor for your radiator thermostats, but it can also automate your fans and roller shutters when it detects excessively high temperatures in summer. In addition to measuring temperature, the digital Room Thermostat II measures the humidity in the room and sends you a visual alert if preset values are exceeded. This allows you to maintain a healthy indoor climate and helps prevent mold growth.Light/Roller Shutter Control II

- . A micro module that can control both lighting and roller shutters by simply placing it behind the existing switch. It also serves as a radio relay for other Bosch equipment.
Door/Window Contact II
, available in white or anthracite. It detects the opening of doors and windows, but also the slightest impact (version +), triggering the alert even before an intrusion. It can also be used in scenarios to turn off the heating in winter if a window is open.
but also a Thermostatic Head II, and a Fire Detector II.

In short, as you can see, the range is getting a major facelift!
