Athom may not mean much to you, but the Dutch company designed the Homey home automation box, which we've already discussed a few times. The manufacturer was at CES 2023 to present its new Homey Pro home automation box (2023 version), which is expected to be available worldwide in the first quarter of 2023. Supporting Zwave, ZigBee, Bluetooth, IR, Wi-Fi, Thread, Matter, and more, with local operation and ultra-powerful scenarios, this new version promises to be impressive! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjquEytSCXo Homey Pro: A box that meets user expectations
Connecting all the smart devices in a single home has long been a challenge, particularly due to the different home automation protocols available. Homey addressed this challenge several years ago with the introduction of a smart home hub that allows users to access devices in one place without having to scroll through apps. But this new version, Homey Pro, goes much further, taking care to listen to user feedback.
In addition to connectivity, Homey Pro comes with highly valued features such as Homey Flow and Advanced Flow for automation, Homey Insights for historical data, and Homey Energy for real-time energy consumption and production. Unlike Big Tech giants, Homey is also designed with privacy in mind. It doesn't listen to or sell customer data, and it doesn't use personal information to create user profiles or target advertising.

The new Homey Pro was designed based on feedback from our most demanding customers, and we were uncompromising in its design. Homey Pro makes it easier for users to unify and organize their home connections while maintaining speed and privacy. It's a feature-rich product that will delight those who use it even months after unboxing.
Emile Nijssen, Creative Director and Co-founder of Athom Homey Pro operates with minimal cloud dependency, offers even more local control options than its predecessor, and is compatible with over 50,000 devices from over 1,000 brands. New devices and services are added daily to the Homey App Store, allowing developers and manufacturers to expand support to even more devices and services. The Homey app store offers over 750 apps, including team picks and popular apps that can be browsed by category for inspiration. The app catalog is extensive.
The Homey Pro smart home hub features a quad-core ARMv8 processor, 2GB of DDR4 RAM, and 8GB of onboard storage. It also offers up to 3.5x the performance of the previous generation and up to four times the wireless range, depending on the connection and technology.
The range has been significantly improved compared to the 2019 version.
Homey cloud services, such as the Homey App Store and Remote Access, are included free with the new Homey Pro, along with a free local backup option via PC or Mac. Cloud backups are available with an optional €10 annual subscription.
Homey Pro brings together the smart home and smart devices in a variety of ways. First, it integrates eight smart home technologies, including Matter: Homey Pro offers Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 (BLE), Zigbee 3, Z-Wave (Plus, S2, thanks to a 700 series chip), 433MHz radio frequency, IR, Matter, and Thread connectivity in a single hub. This allows users to combine devices on existing Zigbee and Z-Wave technologies with new devices on Matter, the new universal protocol supported by major brands like Google, Apple, Amazon, and IKEA. In addition to generic Matter support, Homey apps can extend the functionality of Matter devices with manufacturer-specific characteristics, power consumption, and a manufacturer-defined appearance to honor the brand's unique character. Homey Pro also has the ability to link non-Matter devices to existing Matter networks. Matter support is planned for Q2 2023. Thread support is planned for Q3 2023.In addition to Wi-Fi, Homey Pro can be connected to a wired network using the optional Homey Pro Ethernet Adapter ($29). Designed to plug into a power outlet, the Homey Pro is sleek and requires no cables, even when connected to an Ethernet network.

Scenarios created using Flow can be extremely sophisticated!

Stefan Witkamp, Sales Director at Athom
The Homey Pro will be available in the first quarter for €399. A mid-range box in terms of price, but one that proves to be extremely comprehensive. Competition is likely to be fierce this year! I'll try to offer you a full review soon, as this new version is likely to quickly rise to the top of the list…
